X-Men: Apocalypse - 10 Rumours That Mean It Could Be The Best One Yet

8. Wolverine Is Death (At Least To Begin With)

Singer has already stated that the emphasis in Apocalypse will be on Michael Fassbender's Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique, James McAvoy's Xavier and Nicolas Hoult's Beast, but that some of the original cast will feature too. Since Patrick Stewart has confirmed he hasn't been approached for the film and three of the other core X-Men have been recast with younger actors, it's a fair bet that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is the original cast member who's returning, and that's what the rumour-mongers are saying too. Bets are also being placed that the Canuck with claws will crash into the film as an unfettered bad guy. With the four Horsemen of Apocalypse to account for, and those roles traditionally going to the biggest names in the X-Men universe, Wolverine has to take the top spot of Death. To be honest, no other saddle would be big enough for him. If the comics are influencing the film in any way, then the fact that Logan was brainwashed into being Death in the The Twelve storyline might be a clue to what audiences will see. Though regardless of which comics are mined for inspiration, Wolverine is too heroic to stay a villain for long. This week has seen a new rival rumour emerge, however. EastEnders star Ben Hardy has just been cast in an unspecified role and, because of his looks, people are guessing he's slated to play Archangel - a rival candidate for the Horseman of Death. Clearly, one of these rumours has to be wrong, unless there are going to be two Deaths in the film (which seems unlikely).
