X-Men: Apocalypse - 10 Things That Will Definitely Happen

6. There€™ll Be More Character Development

Despite all of the mutants crushing to get into frame, Bryan Singer has reportedly promised fans more character development for his returning cast. For a start there€™s the fact that Erik is probably beyond Charles€™ entreaties at this point (well, further beyond than usual) and not as open to reason when he€™s working with an Alpha-mutant like Apocalypse. Then there€™s the blossoming romance between a young Scott and Jean, and the promise of more closure for Beast and Mystique€™s short-lived romance from First Class. We were supposed to see more scenes between the two in DOFP but it was one of several strands cut to streamline the film as much as possible. We€™re also getting a lot more of Evan Peters€™ Quicksilver, or Peter Maximoff, the speed freak mutant who provided the stand out scene in DOFP before being unceremoniously sidelined. Bringing Peters back was presumably the easiest decision made during the whole scriptwriting process given how popular he was the first time around, even with that much derided, retina-offending silver jacket he wore, but what€™s more exciting is that he has a reason to be there. It was hinted in the DOFP that the young Maximoffs are Magneto€™s children, (as it is in the comics, if not the MCU) and according to Peters€™, who has been leaking ahead of the trailer€™s release, his second outing will find him searching for his wayward super-dad. With a battle between father and son, the continued ideological clash between two old friends and a bit of love thrown in, Apocalypse looks like it could get emotionally heavy.
