X-Men: Apocalypse - 12 Big Questions That Still Need Answering

2. Who Should Take The Lead?

Columbia Pictures/Marvel ComicsColumbia Pictures/Marvel ComicsHe€™s made no bones about it - Hugh Jackman is happy to take a backseat. After leading five of the series€™ seven films, it€™s not a surprise really. And it€™ll finally give another go-getting member of the X-Men the chance to take centre stage. Especially as it was originally Kitty Pryde who was to go back in time in DoFP, but that duty was given to Wolvie due to his pulling power. It€™d be good to see Iceman take the reins, as he€™s always been on the periphery of the action. If the flicks are to combine two casts we€™ll likely see teen Jean Grey, Storm or Cyclops coming to grips with their mutancy. What better way for them to explore their abilities than by leading a team of mutants to overthrow the world€™s biggest threat? Any of those three, who€™d likely be re-cast by younger actors (unless Famke Janssen, Halle Berry and James Marsden are CGI€™d to appear fresh as daisies) would bring a youthful verve to proceedings. With young Xavier on hand in an advisory capacity of course. Gambit could be on track to take the reins, with Channing Tatum on the verge of signing on for a role. In the Age Of Apocalypse storyline, the crafty card-throwing mutant first joins Apocalypse€™s crew before defecting to the X-Men€™s camp. Then again, the producers could shun the idea of a lead and revert to the First Class ensemble style without a leading character.
