7. Ben Foster - Archangel

He might have already played the character once, and rather unspectacularly thanks to the film's lack of focus on him as anything more than a plot device, but Ben Foster has come a long way since the days of The Last Stand. His CV is peppered with the kind of roles that suggest that he is more than capable of playing memorably unhinged characters with a darker edge, and there is very much a feeling that he deserves another go at an intriguing character who was unfairly crushed in a poor script. Some might suggest it more likely that Singer will recast Angel if he's going to use the character, but it would be far more interesting to see Worthington Jnr brought back in time by Apocalypse as a slightly older character, having had to endure his father's insistent quest for a cure and the fundamental belief that he is a sub-human from those he loves. And Foster is the perfect actor to play both the good and evil sides of the character, so comfortable is he with crossing that divide.
