X-Men: Apocalypse - 14 Things You Need To Know

13. It'll Take Place In 1983

First Class took full advantage of its swinging '60s setting, while Days Of Future Past added flares, a touch of psychedelia and the backdrop of the Vietnam War for the '70s vibe. Now it looks like Apocalypse is to give similar attention to its period setting, judging by the images Singer has been unveiling from the shoot. In case there was any doubt what period the film will take place in, photos from the set have already appeared showing characters in pastel-hued clothes (sleeves rolled up, natch) and with extravagant hair. Aside from the fashion, Singer has also revealed two quintessentially '80s locations will be settings: a video game arcade and a multiplex (showing Return Of The Jedi, no less). As 1983 is the confirmed year, some suggestions as to what else may feature: controversial US president Ronald Reagan, the continuing Cold War and the renewed threat of nuclear armageddon, the phenomenally popular music of Thriller-era Michael Jackson, and the beginning of the internet and cellular telephone technology.
