X-Men: Apocalypse - 7 Spoilers Learned From The New Images
3. Psylocke's Shockingly Faithful Costume
No doubt one of the most awesome reveals in these new images is Psylocke's costume. Bryan Singer has faced a lot of criticism over the years for putting the X-Men in utilitarian black leather costumes in his first two X-Men movies, and for putting the mutants in more black leather and street clothes for Days of Future Past after Matthew Vaughn finally gave them their classic yellow and blue duds in X-Men: First Class. Seeing Olivia Munn with the purple hair is a genuine surprise, as is the fact she's in the exact same skimpy outfit - much to the delight of fans - which Psylocke wears in the comics. As a bonus, she's even wielding a sword, while her right hand glowing purple is an obvious sign that she'll also have her psychic daggers. Throw in Storm's Mohawk, and there's little for even the most hardcore X-Men fan to find fault with. Magneto's look is also more comic book-y than in previous instalments of this franchise, and it appears as if it will be the colourful Apocalypse (who surprisingly won't be brought to life through CGI like Marvel's Thanos) who is responsible for bringing superhero (and villain) costumes into this world. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as if the X-Men's costumes are going to be receiving a similar upgrade in terms of appearance (like those which appeared in X-Men: Days of Future Past, they're mostly black and all quite similar). Charles Xavier isn't training a group of heroes when X-Men: Apocalypse begins, so there's no real reason why they would have costumes just yet. Based on comments from Bryan Singer during Comic-Con however, it seems like this movie will at least be laying the groundwork for that.
