X-Men: Apocalypse - 8 Major New Story Details Revealed

2. Why Psylocke Was Included In The Movie

Easily one of the most exciting new additions to this franchise is Olivia Munn as Psylocke. While we saw a version of the character in the cameo filled X-Men: The Last Stand, she'll be taking on a leading role in X-Men: Apocalypse as one of his Four Horsemen, and was chosen after Singer and Kinberg decided that the villainous group could do with another female member. While it's been confirmed that the movie isn't going to delve into the character's origin story (how they'd squeeze in her being Captain Britain's very English sister whose mind was transferred into the body of a ninja is hard to say in all fairness), Olivia Munn has hinted that her history will at least be alluded to. This version is apparently someone who is used to being used, but is convinced by Apocalypse that his mission is "righteous." In terms of abilities, it also sounds like Singer has lifted a lot from the comics as Psylocke is going to have her telekinetic powers and the purple psy-dagger she creates as a physical weapon with the use of her psychic abilities. Telepathy is another of those, though the decision was made by Munn and Kinberg for the character to keep that under wraps, so whether it factors into the movie remains to be seen. One thing fans should be very grateful to the actress for is Psylocke having her purple costume; it was originally going to be black - Singer's favourite colour for costumes, it seems - but she pushed for the change!
