X-Men: Apocalypse - 9 Reasons To Be Excited

3. A Fresh Start For Cyclops

Not only will Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence be returning to roles they've already made their own at this stage, but Singer has assembled a great cast of up-and-comers to portray characters that have appeared in the franchise before but were never really fully fleshed out. The main casualty of this being Scott Summers, AKA Cyclops.

James Marsten did a good job as Scott in the original X-Men movies, but even though the character was established as the team's leader, he still played second fiddle to Wolverine and the overall perception was that the surface of Cyclops' potential was barely scratched. To add insult to injury, X-Men 3 decided to kill him off in the first act and he wasn't heard from again until his brief cameo at the end of Days Of Future Past.

Now with Tye Sheridan (so impressive in The Tree Of Life and Mud) taking over as a younger version of Scott Summers, we will hopefully get to see him evolve into the determined, strategically brilliant, somewhat ruthless leader comic fans have been waiting for.
