X-Men: Apocalypse - 9 Reasons To Be Excited
2. The Titular Villain
Yes, we will finally get to witness En Sabah Nur in all his live-action glory. Fans have wanted to see this megalomaniacal mutant adapted for the screen since the first X-Men went into production. Like Magneto, Apocalypse believes that mutants are the future - but he adopts a much more merciless, "survival of the fittest" philosophy, and he will not hesitate to destroy other mutants if he deems them too weak.
This incredibly powerful (superhuman strength, telekinesis, flight, invulnerability for example) villain needed an actor to match, and Singer found one in Oscar Isaac. Nominated for a Golden Globe for his superb work in Inside llewyn Davis, Isaac has also impressed with roles in the likes of Ex Machina and A Most Violent year, and he has also been cast as X-Wing pilot Poe Dameron in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The 36-year-old Guatemalan-born actor has proven that he has the gravitas and intensity to do justice to Apocalypse, and his performance has to be one of the most highly anticipated aspects of the film.
