X-Men: Apocalypse - Everything You Need To Know

8. Most Of The Old Cast Is Getting Dumped

The casting of Oscar Isaac and continuing on from Days Of Future Past, that's the good news. The bad news €“ at least in the eyes of some fans €“ is that in order for X-Men: Apocalypse to capitalise on the blank slate that last film left them with, the film has cut loose most of the old cast that made the previous X-Men films so great. Most egregiously, that means Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart won't be returning as Magneto and Professor X, respectively. It's already got fanboys raising their hackles, and with good reason: the transcendentally talented pair brought an air of respectability to what's really a pretty silly series of films. Not only that, but Days Of Future Past's ending now seems like a huge tease. They showed James Marsden and Famke Janssen resurrected as Cyclops and Jean Grey, but neither of them will appear in the new film either, with the producers choosing to go for younger actors to replace them.
