X-Men: Apocalypse - Predicting Who Lives And Who Dies

2. Magneto

Why He Could Live: Although Charles is ostensibly the main character of the series, it€™s hard to not see Magneto€™s journey as the real through-line of the films so far. He€™s done some terrible things but his motivations are so clear that it€™s hard not to root for him to get a happy ending.

Then there€™s his ultimate destiny to consider. Magneto is the X-Men€™s greatest foe, and even if he€™s never seen on screen again, his presence ought to be felt in their universe. Killing him just wouldn€™t feel right, as there are definitely better ways to take him out of the frontlines while stillkeeping him tangentially in the picture, having him put in jail for instance.

Why He Could Die: From a story angle, Magneto could possiblybe in store for a redemption arc, since at some point he's going align with Apocalypse, seemingly by choice. The trailers also suggest, however, that over the course of the film,he's going to become disillusioned with all of the destruction, possiblyreeling from the destruction of the X-Mansion. Perhaps the cost of making up for what he€™s done, both in this movie and its predecessors, is death, and in doing so he mightfinally find the peace and redemption he€™s been craving.

With his mission of vengeance largely complete at this point, it€™s arguable that Magneto wouldn't even have much left to live for. That just might be enough motivation to cause him to give up his life willingly.

Prediction: Imprisoned, but alive.
