X-Men: Dark Phoenix - 40 WTF Moments

28. Literally Nobody Seems Bothered Why Jean Is Alive

No matter how pleased everyone would have been to see Jean Grey emerge unscathed from the whole Phoenix Force attack thing or how happy and great she insisted she felt, why are literally none of the X-Men concerned about WHY she survived? Yes, Xavier orders a medical, but even when Beast uncovered actual genetic issues that put her powers off the charts, he simply remarked that he needed a better machine.

Why did nobody think to wonder about the huge explosion that had rushed into her body? Why did nobody ask why she hadn't died in space with no spacesuit on? Are these people that self-absorbed?!

27. The Aliens

In the comics, the D'Bari are part plant, part humanoid creatures that can disguise themselves as humans and one of which, Vuk - the same character Jessica Chastain plays in fact - has a Ray Gun that turns people to stone. In the film, they're a totally nondescript race of aliens that look almost identical to the aliens in Signs who turn up on Earth with the intention of using the Phoenix Force to terraform the universe's inhabitable planets, but also to take over Earth as their own planet after theirs was destroyed.

Slightly mixed messages there, to be honest, but then you shouldn't be surprised since at no point is it explained why the aliens were already embedded on Earth and were able to hide in top level government and intelligence agency positions. They can't have just all accidentally bodysnatched people who handily had really useful jobs.

When the writers don't care to write about their own characters properly, it's really hard to be all that invested.
