X-Men: Dark Phoenix - 40 WTF Moments
24. "Ignore My Flamey Veins, I'm Fine!"
It really shouldn't matter how many times Jean Grey insists she's fine, because as soon as she gets even mildly stressed, her veins start popping out of her skin like they're filled with molten lava. Apparently, despite getting close enough to kiss her, not even Cyclops seems to be bothered or even vaguely concerned by the fact that his girlfriend's blood has been visibly replaced by fire. It's only when she passes out that he seems to worry.
23. Xavier Loves The Fame
The character arcs in Dark Phoenix are all mostly fine - Jean struggles with her powers, Magneto is a pacificist looking to live in isolation with other like-minded mutants who is drawn back in by tragedy, Beast gets seriously pissed at the same tragedy... But Charles Xavier's arc is more problematic.
There is literally nothing in his past that suggests he would suddenly enjoy being the media darling and celebrity mutant and while he claims it's to help mutant integration, the whole point of his retirement is him accepting that he lost his way. So we're supposed to believe that this character who devoted his life to creating a haven for young, vulnerable mutants would retire having been turned on by too much fame? No.
