X-Men Dark Phoenix - 8 Things It Must Do

6. End The Magneto/Professor X Drama

Six. That is the number of movies that have revolved around the conflicts and friendship between Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr. Isn't that enough?

Yes, McAvoy and Fassbender are both magnificent in their roles, but the constant switching between friends and enemies became exhausting several films ago. Magneto vs. Professor X is a tried and true formula, but just like with every formula, it becomes incredibly stale. Magneto killed millions of people in Apocalypse and Xavier forgave his old friend almost immediately. What could Lehnsherr possibly do now to lose the allegiance of his best friend? There's simply no progression from there.

The solution is clear: take out the constant shifting allegiance and just put Magneto on the X-Men full time. He can work with Professor X and be a co-leader. The two clashing ideologies is not necessarily a problem, as long as the characters are written well enough where their conflict doesn't consume the entire movie.

The only other solution would be give Michael Fassbender a break and just have him leave for awhile. As he's already been signed on for Dark Phoenix, that isn't going to happen.

The X-Men deserve to have a chance to exist without Magneto as their primary foe. So make him a full time ally.
