X-Men: Days Of Future Past - 5 Biggest Questions Posed By The New Trailer

2. Is Age of the Apocalypse The Next Step?

Days Of Future Past 8 Days of Future Past is arguably one of the biggest story arcs in the history of the X-Men comics. One story that is perhaps even bigger is the epic Age of Apocalypse story. Age of Apocalypse is another time warping tale and officially takes place in an alternate Marvel Universe. Following the death of Charles Xavier at the hands of his own son Legion, Magneto assumes the role of leader of the X-Men and brings together his own team of mutants to do battle with the evil En Sabah Nur (aka Apocalypse), who has become intent on taking over, enslaving and ultimately destroying planet Earth. If Fox want their X-Men movies to have any chance of outdoing Marvel's Avengers sequel, then it would make perfect sense to include the Apocalypse character, even if he only shows up post-credits to make his presence felt. Whether a character like Apocalypse would be involved in the mass genocide of Mutants, however, is extremely questionable, but it wouldn't be the first time history has been rewritten to allow it to fit into a movie. Above all, it has to be recognised that the inclusion of both Bishop and Blink - who are integral to the Age of Apocalypse story - in the trailer suggests that this could be where Fox are heading for their third installment, though there's no way to tell for sure.
