2. Classic Character Cameos

Another great scene in the movie occurs just as the timeline is fixed, and Wolverine wakes up in Xavier's school. Confused and groggy, he walks around the halls to see a number of his formerly dead comrades, such as Iceman, Rogue (making her 5-second contribution to the movie), Kitty, Colossus, Beast, Storm, and then two old friends we haven't seen (properly) in a while. Wolverine notices a woman in a red dress, and of course, it's Jean Grey. They exchange pleasantries and as Wolverine goes to touch her, he is interrupted by Cyclops, who tells him "Not so fast". Logan expresses a genuine pleasure to see Cyclops alive and well again after his death in The Last Stand (a major bugbear for most X-Men fans too), a feeling no doubt replicated by most of the people watching the film as well. This moment really makes the movie's aim clear, to correct the mistakes that Brett Ratner made in his movie, and to ensure that those beloved characters aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
