X-Men: Days Of Future Past Review - 10 Awesome Moments

8. JFK Was A Mutant

One of the most interesting subplots in Days of Future Past is the imprisonment of Magneto, apparently for the murder of President John F. Kennedy, with several characters commenting on the curvature of the bullet that killed him. As a result, Magneto is holed up in the Pentagon, and must be rescued by Quicksilver. Even after being rescued, Magneto maintains the line that he killed JFK, and it's only when speaking to Charles on a plane that he tells the truth: the bullet curved because he was trying to save JFK. And why exactly would Magneto be interested in doing that? Of course, JFK was actually a mutant (which was presumably the reason for his assassination in the first place). Though no elaboration is given on what JFK's powers might have been (the art of seduction, perhaps?), it's a playful idea and a fun way to toy with real-world history, just as Matthew Vaughn did in X-Men: First Class.
