X-Men Film Universe's Future: 10 Things You Need To Know

3. New Mutants And X-Factor

Two very interesting and unexpected X-Men projects in the pipeline are New Mutants and X-Factor. The latter (which revolved around a private investigation agency run by mutants) is reportedly being developed as a TV show, though Fox needing to get permission from Marvel to move forward with that may be holding it up. They may own the rights to the characters, but still need Marvel Studios to sign off on them being used. As a result, many fans are hoping that Kevin Feige will use this as a way of bringing Galactus and Silver Surfer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, something he last tried when the Daredevil rights were up for grabs! As for New Mutants, Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) recently announced via Twitter that he's completed the first draft, and after months of him Tweeting photos of comic books involving those young characters, it's become clear that the filmmaker is a huge fan of the property and excited to bring them to the big screen. As obscure a team as they may be, that alone makes it easier to get excited over! Unfortunately, there's been no updates on X-Force for a while now. The last reports on that stated that Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow was writing the script, but with Deadpool and (possibly) Cable set to team up a couple of years from now, it could be that their adventure is used to lay the groundwork for this one to finally become a reality. Fox will hopefully consider going down the R-Rating route with it if Deadpool succeeds too, as X-Force is a movie which has the potential to take the X-Men franchise in a very grown up new direction.
