X-Men Apocalypse: 10 Implications For The X-Men Franchise

2. More Blue Mystique To Come

The crux of Mystique's arc in Apocalypse was that she struggled with the notion of being an icon and role model for other mutants, to the point that she intentionally avoided assuming her blue form, almost as though she was ashamed of it.

However, the movie ended with Mystique finally embracing both her role as a trainer of the new X-Men members and her iconic blue form. As such, we can probably expect that the next movie will see a lot more of blue Mystique...or so we hope.

Yes, much has been written about Jennifer Lawrence apparently asking the filmmakers to include as few blue Mystique scenes as possible, but a) the character's silly crisis of confidence is now resolved, so it wouldn't make narrative sense to keep holding the blue back and b) the part could very well be recast by the next movie, almost certainly with an actress more amenable to the arduous make-up process.
