X-Men Apocalypse: 11 Best Moments

10. Apocalypse Launches Earth's Nukes Into Space

After Xavier uses Cerebro to track down Magneto, this enables Apocalypse to tap into and take command of the machine, using it to control the minds of those holding the keys to the world's nuclear arsenal.

He then has the nukes fired into space, depriving Earth of its entire nuclear defences, all while Xavier orders Havok to destroy Cerebro in an effort to stop Apocalypse's plan.

It's a terrific scene aided by some haunting visuals and brilliant use of Beethoven's Symphony No.7 to chilling effect. Above all else, it's a touch more imaginative use of the Cold War than Apocalypse just having everyone fire their nukes at everyone else, causing widespread destruction (though that might've been a more successful plan).

The cleverness of the scheme, the smoothness with which it's pulled off and the utter desperation and hopelessness it brings out in Xavier is remarkable.
