X-Men Apocalypse: 11 Best Moments

5. Xavier Vs. Apocalypse

We all wondered whether or not the much-teased Xavier-Apocalypse fight would end up being a dream sequence considering that Apocalypse seems to retain his regular size during every other scene in the trailers. The answer? Not quite.

In the climactic fight, Apocalypse throttles Mystique and threatens to kill her if Xavier doesn't show himself, so Xavier decides to enter Apocalypse's mind for a peculiar mental battle on the astral plane.

Cue one of the trippiest sequences in the X-Men franchise, as Apocalypse grows to a giant size and makes short work of Xavier, hurling him around a reconstruction of the X-Mansion like a toy and basically beating seven shades of snot out of him.

It's only when Jean Grey enters the fray and uses her Phoenix Force that the X-Men are then able to get the upper hand.

Considering how bland most of the final fight was, this was a welcome divergence, a surreal aside that realised Apocalypse's unstoppable potential, even if it sadly wasn't a "real" fight.
