X-Men Apocalypse: 13 Reasons It's A Huge Disappointment

11. It Has Little Sense Of Time Or Place

One of the most entertaining aspects of the two previous movies in the First Class trilogy is their apt sense of time and place: we felt the anguish of the Cuban Missile Crisis in First Class, and Days of Future Past had plenty of fun with ridiculous hair styles and clothing.

Sadly, Apocalypse doesn't really make much of an effort to realise the 80s, despite it being such a colourful and effervescent period.

Sure, we see Quicksilver playing Ms. Pac-Man, Eurythmics' Sweet Dreams plays out during the X-Mansion evacuation, and Nightcrawler hilariously wears a Thriller-style jacket (while sporting a Flock of Seagulls haircut), but there's not a whole lot more than that.

What's odd is that we know Bryan Singer filmed scenes at a mall with Cyclops, Jean, Jubilee and Nightcrawler, but they apparently ended up on the cutting room floor, likely because the movie already clocks in at 143 minutes without them. The gang talk about taking Nightcrawler clothes shopping during the movie, but it ultimately happens off-screen.
