X-Men: Apocalypse - 15 Questions Left By The Stupidest X-Movie Ever
13. How Can Havoc A Brother Twenty Years Younger?
After only a brief cameo in Days Of Future Past, Havoc returns with a proper role in X-Men: Apocalypse when his younger brother discovers he too is a mutant who can shoot beams, this time from his eyes. Like any good brother, Alex Summers takes Scott to his old buddy, Professor X, who helped him get used to his mutation.
Which is all fine and dandy and - in a rare case for this film - logical. Well, until you remember that he was a student in 1963, meaning he's twenty years older than Scott. It's possible his parents had him very young, then waited until he was off at college to try for a kid again, but that's dumb and the ages of the actors playing the mother and father don't match up.
I actually assumed Alex was going to be Scott's father in the movies because of the gap, and that would have actually been more interesting; it develops Havoc, makes his death mean more and serves as a nice parallel to the Quicksilver/Magneto stuff (which I'll get to in a bit).
The effect of passage of time on the First Class characters is pretty muddled across the board - while the archived-footage flashbacks do show McAvoy looked a little more boy-ish in 2011, nobody looks like they've aged twenty years - but this one is the most ill-thought out. You're probably not meant to think too much about it though; Havoc is really only here so the film can kill someone.
