Even worse, Professor X also confirms while looking in Cerebro for Moira that he might have "once" used it to basically be a peeping tom on her.

While I'm sure he did so innocently, the fact that he responds to the accusation by getting even more flustered and looking ashamed suggests he discovered Moira in the shower or something. It's the kind of sequence that answers one of those unspoken - and unwanted - questions: could Professor X be watching whoever he wants bathe?

Why this needed to be included when there was already more than enough elements competing in the narrative? It's just distracting, a little distasteful and again, it makes Xavier look terrible.
