X-Men: Apocalypse - 25 WTF Moments

17. Professor X = Hugh Grant

While it's a little unfair to say that Professor X is written poorly in Apocalypse, his transformation from cool-headed leader to foppish, bumbling romantic wannabe is a little jarring.

That is particularly evident when Xavier learns of Moira MacTaggert's activity in the Apocalypse case and turns into Hugh Grant, stumbling over words, getting flustered and basically flirting like a pre-teen. It's horribly jarring, and while it's played for laughs it makes the leader of the X-Men look like a total fool who cannot keep a tight hold on his emotions.

It's almost like he's being set up for a sitcom, and it's just not welcome.
