18. The Dark Phoenix Spoiler Comes Early

Despite the fact that it took three films to seed and execute Jean Grey's Dark Phoenix arc in Singer's original trilogy, it takes roughly two scenes in Apocalypse before it's painfully obvious what's happening. After having her nightmare vision of Apocalypse, Jean talks with Professor X about the darkness within her and the deal is pretty much sealed.

At this point, you'd think Prof X would recognise the signs, as he did in the alternate timeline and make a move to put some sort of psychic control mechanism in Jean's head. But nope, apparently nothing from the events of First Class or Days Of Future Past have made him wary of super-powerful, fragile mutants, because he's an idiot.

Even worse, the last TV spot ahead of the US release gave away Grey's transformation into the Phoenix at the end of the film. It's like nobody cares how much plot they're giving away now.
