The X-Men franchise has a profound fascination with TH White's The Once And Future King. It is that book which Professor X reads to his class when Cyclops gets to the Mansion with Havok.

This is the second time we've seen the book - and indeed the exact same copy - as it was the book Magneto reads during his incarceration in X-Men 2 in the plastic prison.

So why is it important? It's an infamous exploration of power and justice, dealing with similar ideas to the X-Men franchise - particularly the idea that powerful people should automatically rule. Both Magneto and Apocalypse share that philosophy.

Interestingly, Charles' study also reveals bookends in the shape of Atlas, signifying his own burden holding the world up.
