X-Men: Apocalypse - Every Character Ranked From Worst To Best
9. Nightcrawler
Of all the new characters, Nightcrawler probably represents the least problematic to the timeline. All you have to accept is that rather than meeting the X-Men after he was used by Stryker in an assassination attempt against the president, he was rescued by Mystique earlier. The ages at least sort of match up, but that doesn't seem to be an issue for any of the other characters.
Of the new X-Men, Nightcrawler is given the least to do after his opening fight with Angel (which is excellent and all too short): he's a shy, awkward teen who clearly prefers his own quiet company, so it fits that he wouldn't be flashy. But there's enough there to hint that Kodi Smit-McPhee looked at Alan Cumming's performance for tips, right down to the comic timing.
He might be used a little too much as comic relief, but when Nightcrawler has his moments to shine, he's great. And it's good to have an X-Men team that includes him for future movies.
