X-Men: Apocalypse - Every Character Ranked From Worst To Best
3. Quicksilver
As soon as Quicksilver stole the show in Days Of Future Past, he was always going to be back in a similar vein for the sequel. And boy did they deliver on that front?!
The slo-mo rescue sequence to the sounds of Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams" was a glorious high-point for the entire film, showing off brilliant practical filming techniques, effects work and excellent, hilarious acting by Evan Peters. It's a little bit of a shame that it comes somewhat out of nowhere, but calling Quicksilver a narrative mercenary (i.e. dropped in for unearned drama) isn't entirely right.
Given the family ideas that run through the whole film and the motifs of self-revelation and reflection, Quicksilver seeking his father is a great little addition. It doesn't actually resolve itself as you might suspect, but Quicksilver defining himself as a loser and finding family with the X-Men is basically everything the franchise has ever said about family.
