Zombieland: Double Tap Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs

3. Abigail Breslin's Disappointing Subplot

It's fair to say that Abigail Breslin's post-Zombieland career has been pretty hit-and-miss - especially compared to her three co-stars, who have all been nominated for or won Oscars since 2009 - yet there was hope that Double Tap would give her a role worthy of her considerable acting chops.

But Little Rock sadly has the least screen time of the entire quartet, shuttled off into her own B-plot away from the others - a generic and forgettable aside where she shacks up with her new hippie survivalist boyfriend (Avan Jogia).

This plot just feels like a convenient excuse to get the least interesting of the four main characters out of the way, while also finding time to make low-effort wise-cracks about pacifist millennials and hippies.

On one hand this subplot mercifully isn't lent an excessive amount of screen time throughout the movie, but it's also a shame the script didn't have more compelling material for Breslin, because she deserves better.
