10 "Secret" Upcoming Video Games We Already Know About
3. TimeSplitters 4
Long-suffering fans of the TimeSpitters franchise have been begging for a new game ever since the release of 2005's TimeSplitters: Future Perfect.
In the years that followed, conflicting reports suggested a fourth game game was either deep in development or cancelled, and in the mean time fans had to take mild solace in the development of TimeSplitters Rewind, a publisher-approved remastered compilation of various elements from the first three games.
But in August 2018, it was announced that the TimeSplitters IP had been acquired by THQ Nordic AB, and a year later, it was confirmed that series co-creator Steve Ellis had joined Deep Silver to "plot the future of course of the series," while several people who worked on the earlier TimeSplitters games suggested Ellis was indeed at work on a new TimeSplitters game.
While it's possible Ellis is developing a remastered collection of the first three games, given the intense fan demand for a legit sequel, that's more likely what he's working on - even if it ends up being more of a franchise reboot than a card-carrying TimeSplitters 4.
Either way, the prospect of a new TimeSplitters being in players' hands within the next couple of years has never felt more real.
