10 3D Zelda Moments That Left You Speechless
4. Game Over (Majora's Mask)
Ganon might not be Link’s enemy this time around, but rather the possessed Skull Kid, as well as time itself. Despite being a one off villain, Skull Kid certainly left his mark with this iconic Game Over.
If Link doesn't stop the moon from crashing into Termina before the three days are up, we see the destruction of the entire world play out as the moon, with its wide and creepy face, crashes into the land. Link is whisked away in a wave of flames, and just to rub salt in the wound, the titular Majora’s Mask appears behind a wall of flames, only to be replaced onscreen by the words, “You’ve met with a terrible fate, haven’t you?”, before setting the player back to the beginning.
Seeing the threat brought on by the Skull Kid's powers actually follow through made it feel all the more real, and to see such an unrelenting end to the world play out gave us all the incentive we needed to make sure we never ran out of time again.
