10 Addictive Video Games That Totally Destroyed Your Social Life

9. Angry Birds

All the hipsters out there would have you think differently, but Angry Birds certainly isn't a fad that'll pass - it's here to stay as part of our popular culture whether you're for or against it. In fact, the phenomenal success of the franchise has seen it essentially become the mobile game equivalent of the annual LEGO games. Both have become the go-to names for film, comic book and TV tie-ins and sell themselves on accessibility and replayability. Angry Birds has a leg-up on the competition; it's playable wherever you want, whenever you want - although I wouldn't advise frantically swiping birds across your phone screen at work. That's Angry Birds' real addictive power; console gaming will always be restricted to being a stationary activity. Rovio's time-sink puzzler is the perfect remedy for when you're braving the horrible world of public transport or to escape an inane conversation you've been dragged into and couldn't give a toss about contributing to. It's an anti-social enabler, and a damn good one at that.
