10 Addictive Video Games That Will Ruin Your Life

6. Football Manager

It's the dream of just about every football fan to be the manager of their favourite team and lead them to Cup glory, and that's why the various footie management games are so ridiculously popular. That's also the reason why you'll see people feverishly poring over league tables and transfer windows on their iPad (or tablet of choice) while sitting on the Tube, because they can't bear to put the game down for a second; it is that addictive. Football Manager is the King of the footie sims, managing to harness the various joys and heartbreaks of being a football manager and also managing to encapsulate the key tenets of addiction all at the same time; despite wanting to sling your iPad across the room, you'll no doubt keep playing, and without hesitation buy each new game released every year. Being a football fan is itself an addictive experience, and so it's fair to say that a game which allows you to play out your sporting fantasies is itself just as entrancing.
