10 Announced Video Games That Mysteriously Disappeared
9. The Grinder
If there’s one genre Nintendo has never
really embraced, it’s the first-person shooter. The company’s reputation as
family friendly funsters doesn’t exactly mesh well with the concept, after all,
so there’s really no surprise there.
As far as exclusive genre entries go, GoldenEye 007 is about the extent of things. However, The Grinder was set to bring a very different experience to Nintendo Wii than to other platforms.
High Voltage Software set to bring their supernatural title to the Wii as an FPS, and a TPS for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The game was to revolve around the concept of a reality in which creatures like werewolves and vampires live alongside humanity, while a enigmatic organization leads the fight against them where necessary.
The player would take the role of a small group of elite agents with different abilities, similarly to the Vault Hunters of the Borderlands series. An intriguing concept, but one that never came to fruition. Work on the game had largely ceased by late 2010, though the game was never officially cancelled.
