Ubisoft’s track record with announcements leading to delays and cancellations isn’t the best, is it? One of the highest-profile examples of a Ubisoft title that has long floundered is Beyond Good & Evil 2.

The original launched back in 2003, an intriguing adventure title starring a young reporter named Jade. As the game progresses, she meets an array of fascinating creatures and delves into a huge, mysterious conspiracy that shapes her whole world.

As positive as its critical reception was, Beyond Good & Evil was a little obscure and didn’t hit the sales numbers it deserved. The upcoming sequel has garnered a lot more attention, but that’s partly a result of its chequered development.

First unveiled at 2017’s E3 event, we’ve seen smatterings of updates from the team, but nary a whiff of a release date.

The game is set to bring a vast universe to explore, allowing players to earn the trust of various characters, who will serve as crew members for the journey ahead. It’s a huge and incredibly ambitious title, a fact which is surely taking its toll on those charged with bringing it to life.
