10 Annoying Video Game Trends That Must Die In 2017
4. Motion Controls
We almost got rid of motion controls, but they have made a (hopefully brief) return to the spotlight being used alongside VR for a multitude of virtual reality experiences. Putting aside the fact that motion controls were always a step in the wrong direction, becoming less immersive than standard controllers, they are simply not needed anymore and worsen what VR could ultimately be.
Wonky and unresponsive, motion controls were the pinnacle of gimmick technology with no standout games utilising the development aside from Wii Sports.
Besides, the only reason they are making their stride back is in VR, which only gets worse with motion controls. A normal controller works just as well, if not better, and has less stupid videos of people leaning on tables that aren’t there.
Hopefully we can put this one to bed before it gains too much traction. Otherwise Star Wars Kinect might get a sequel, which I'm pretty sure is the fifth sign of the apocalypse.
