10 Awesome Facts We Just Learned About Upcoming Games
5. Forklifts Are Back In Shenmue III
There are still so many question marks surrounding the development of perhaps the most anticipated sequel in modern video game history, but Shenmue fans had a little of their anxiety quelled this week with confirmation that the series' iconic forklifts are back in the upcoming threequel.
Forklifts were a fan favourite element of the original Shenmue, with players able to control protagonist Ryo Hazuki as he not only worked as a forklift driver but also raced against his colleagues.
Despite their popularity, forklifts were disappointingly absent from Shenmue II, and ever since Shenmue III's surprise reveal back at E3 2015, fans have been hand-wringing over whether or not they would be making a mighty return.
And though their precise nature in the game isn't yet clear, it's tough to imagine them being included without the ability to race (hopefully online).
While some fans view the forklifts as emblematic of the series' excessive devotion to ennui-inducing busy-work, they are nothing if not fiercely iconic in their own right.
