Considering Capcom's insane ability to churn out fighting game crossovers using their established IPs, it shouldn't come as a surprise to know that not all of their ventures worked out - with Capcom Fighting All-Stars being an especially interesting footnote in the company's storied history.

Originally starting out life as Capcom VS SNK 3 - stick a pin in that one by the way - this brawler came about due to SNK filing for bankruptcy that game never came to fruition. So Capcom tried to make the best of a bad situation and make something out of the assets they'd already made for that failed venture.

The result was Capcom Fighting All-Stars, a game that took numerous Capcom characters such as Street Fighter's Ryu and DarkStalker's Demitri, who were primarily known for their 2D fighting escapades and slapped them into a 3D fighter. This sudden shift to the third dimension got many people's alarm-bells ringing from the word-go, and it would seem their suspsions would  turn out to be true.

The game was ultimately cancelled based on poor feedback from play-testers, Capcom did try to address these issues in the following months but the plug was pulled in favour of focusing on new projects.
