And speaking of Mortal Kombat, its creators at NetherRealm Studios are back once again with another failed crossover that would have sent fans the world over into a frenzy.

During an interview with GameInformer, Mortal Kombat's co-creator Ed Boon revealed that there had been many discussions around a potential Marvel fighting game in the vein of their Injustice series. That announcement certainly got people's hearts racing, but Boon then followed up that first statement by saying "we would love to make like a Marvel fighting game, or a Marvel vs. DC, I think would be the coolest."

Whilst the proposal of a Marvel VS DC fighting game was a pipe-dream for Ed Boon, the fact that NetherRealm Studios already had the DC licence to hand due to the Injustice series and were in talks with Marvel to gain access to their extensive roster of combatants, we may have been a little bit closer to this crossover than we first thought. 

This one truly stings as the Injustice series is beloved by many, and the Marvel gang have starred in several brilliant fighting games over the years, meaning there was plenty of good stuff already that could have been mined for this one.
