Horizon is a good title for a game. Zero Dawn is a good title for a game. Horizon: Zero Dawn is a great title for a game... but Horizon Zero Dawn is a bit of a naff title for a game.

It might seem a bit like splitting hairs, but just think when this becomes a series; after all, it’s too good a game not to get a sequel or two.

Will it be called Horizon Zero Dawn 2? That doesn’t make much sense, given that after the events of the first game, Zero Dawn is no longer appropriate.

Horizon is the game’s title, more or less, with it becoming the shorthand when discussing the game. Zero Dawn is the subtitle, and if there were a colon, the sequel could be called Horizon: New Beginning, Horizon: Daybreak or Horizon: Something Thematic And Cool Which Fits The Game’s Aesthetic.

Some discussions amongst fans has already assumed the colon exists, with them often adding the punctuation in of their own volition while discussing the game.

Even the game’s official subreddit is just called Horizon, more or less confirming that, regardless of what Guerrilla Games think, everyone sees this as Horizon: Zero Dawn.
