10 Awesome Video Games With AWFUL Titles

2. Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue

Kingdom Hearts doesn’t do things that easy way. Between Kingdom Hearts II & III, eleven games in total were released in the series, the eleventh and most stupidly titled of which was Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue.

The most egregious part is the II.8. Yep, that’s the Roman numerals being used for 2, and the regular Western Arabic numeral for 8, for reasons not entirely clear to anyone.

Leaving aside that 2.8 is a bizarre numbering for a game (the more fitting 2.5 had already been taken by one of the preceding 10 games), the mishmash of numerical styles is just hideous and unforgivable.

Then there’s the weird oxymoron of Final Chapter Prologue. Final chapters, as their name’s suggest, come at the end of a story, while prologues come at the start. Being the final bridge between II & III, it makes some sense that it’s both an ending and a beginning, but that’s the kind of thing you explore in game. In the title, it just adds to the confusion.

Finally, the HD is just superfluous and only serves to make matters worse. Less is more.
