10 Awkward Moments In Awesome Recent Video Games
2. The Entire Story In Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
It truly is a shame to see such an iconic franchise go out with a whimper, rather than the bang it deserved.
While the gameplay aspect of Phantom Pain is indeed some of the best stealth-action gameplay we have ever seen, even scoring a 93 on Metacritic and earning multiple Game of the Year awards in 2015, the story can very quickly pull you out of all that.
Specifically, how, by the end, the story created more questions than it answered. And since prequels are supposed to answer any questions audiences might have had about how things came to be the way they are known to be, this really left longtime fans with little in the way of closure or understanding.
And since it is well known that Phantom Pain had a tense development cycle, which ended with the now reviled publisher, Konami, and revered series creator, Hideo Kojima, parting ways.
It makes the awkwardness that much more prominent when you think about why it's there in the first place, and just how much potential was squandered as a result.
