10 Best Areas In Dark Souls
3. Archdragon Peak - Dark Souls 3
Accessing this optional area in the third Dark Souls game requires you to reach the Untended Graves, learn a gesture and then use it beside a dragon that is sitting in the same pose. After a while you are transported to Archdragon peak and, not for the first time, you wonder who on earth discovered this by accident.
This location has a very real feeling of being somewhat disconnected from the rest of the world, fitting the almost dream like meditative state that brings you here. The Serpent-Men that you encounter initially are unique enemies and you soon encounter their larger versions, Rock Lizards and stray Wyverns.
The Ancient Wyvern is the first boss encounter and while not everyone likes the one-hit kill mechanic, at least they were trying something new. Further on, you encounter a Havel Knight, someone wielding Ricard's Rapier and the most infamous boss in Dark Souls 3.
Nameless King is a challenge for sure, but he also has huge lore implications, finally being revealed as the son of Gwyn that was erased from the record books. Ornstein's armour being found after the fight also implies that when he left Anor Londo, he went and served his King once again.
