10 Best Dynasty Warriors Characters

8. Ma Chao

Another one of Shu's Five Tiger Generals, Ma Chao 'the Splendid' is a stalwart and imposing figure and fairly late-stage entry into Shu's forces. In the novel he is quite different from his historical personality, but no less imposing as a warrior in either version.

In the novel, and most of the games, he's considered a beacon of justice and morality - raising a rebellion against Cao Cao after the man executed his father. I mean, his father was part of an assassination plot against Cao Cao, but y'know, taking the high road is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. Historically, of course, Ma Chao actually raised a revolt while his father was Cao Cao's political hostage - and so the Wei ruler executed the man in an act of revenge.

In Dynasty Warriors he consistently pulls pretty good movesets and attributes with high speed and strength along with a long reach. Coming from a place known for its cavalry forces, he is often given horse-themed attributes, such as his weapons being called things like Steel Stallion and Stallion Fury. In the latest game he's a little straight-forward with his attacks, which lowers his crowd-clearing, but his acrobatic techniques help to make up for that.
