10 Best Dynasty Warriors Characters

You know... I'm starting to think the developers of this series might be Shu fans, since that gives us three of the Five Tiger Generals on this list already. And of course, just like Lu Bu, if you knew anything about the series you'd have to know that Zhao Yun would be on this list.

Adorning the cover of more Dynasty Warriors games than any other officer, he is often the only character featured on the cover. This is, in part, thanks to his infamous charge through Cao Cao's entire army to save Liu Bei's infant son during the battle of Changban. The other aspect is that, as I mentioned, the developers believed that a Shu general would be the best person to base the game's marketing around given that Liu Bei's forces are the 'good guys' of the story.

Zhao Yun's moveset can be a little hit or miss sometimes, but his stats are regularly some of the best. He can be a little wonky in some games to get through the big groups, but he can carve up generals nice and quickly. And, much as DW6 was a fairly garbage entry overall, using his dashing attack was always stupidly fun, even if somewhat ineffective.
