10 Best Hidden Gem RPGs Of The Last 10 Years

1. Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning

Greedfall game
THQ Nordic

In terms of western RPGs that deserved way more than what they got, few are as snubbed as Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning.

While it did manage to accrue enough of a cult following to get a re-release, neither made sufficient enough of a splash for anything to come of what could have been an amazing series of RPGs.

This game, like all great RPGs, starts off with your character already thoroughly dead. Don't worry though, you get better. And in getting better, you learn you have the ability to literally alter the course of fate. Events that were otherwise inevitable can now be thwarted, those seemingly destined to die can be saved etc.

Obviously such a setup kinda chooses your career path for you, so, newly resurrected and familiar with the awesome combat system, you set out to thwart a seemingly impossibly overwhelming enemy.

Everything about this game on a technical and gameplay level runs like a swiss watch, fussed over until it was just right. The only part it seems to stumble in, and why it was probably denied the fandom given to, say, the BioWare library, was its character writing, which wasn't exactly earth-shattering. Despite that, though, Kingdoms Of Amalur is one of the best RPGs released in the past ten years, and definitely one you should check out.
