A lot of RPGs, especially niche ones, can feel...impersonal. While the stories might be good, the characters within that story can feel like acquaintances instead of an actual adventuring party. Fallout: New Vegas has better individual characters, for example, but Fallout 4 shows you how these guys interact with each other. Relationships between party members are some of the most fun of writing and experiencing an adventuring party. So why not make a game where the characters' relationship is the entire point?

Haven centers on a pair of newlyweds named Kay and Yuu, who have escaped their home planet but wound up crashed on a planet seemingly devoid of intelligent life. While they work to repair the ship, your job is to keep both them and their budding love alive in this harsh environment.

The combat mechanics where you must control both Kay and Yuu at the same time to defeat enemies is both a fun and interesting spin on turn-based combat, as well as a good metaphor for their relationship. That relationship is easily the best part of the game - I mean it wouldn't even be on this list if it wasn't - as you get to know intimately both members of the couple as they go through the ups and downs of a relationship while surviving in this harsh world. And if you want a bit more queer in your romance-focused RPG, then you're in luck, because the latest update added genderswapped versions of both Kay and Yuu, allowing you to play as either a gay or lesbian couple.
