10 Best Moments In Final Fantasy History

4. Battle Between Alexander & Bahamut - Final Fantasy IX

What is quite possibly one of the greatest FMVs in any game ever, let alone the Final Fantasy series, the battle of Alexandria sees Kuja descend on a city celebrating the newly crowned Queen Garnet. It's not the first time we're on the receiving end of summons, typically allies after proving our worth in battle, but when Kuja summons Bahamut and his megaflare starts carving the castle up like cheese, we get a real taste of how destructive their awesome power can be.

Faced with the demise of her people, Garnet hears a voice calling to her. Eiko hears it as well and rushes to join her, where the two use their combined power to summon legendary eidolon, Alexander. The size of a castle himself, he unfurls his wings to protect the city, firing back at Bahamut and killing him.

As the city below evacuates, Kuja attempts to steal Alexander for himself, just as he stole Bahamut. Garnet, seeing this, uses the Invincible power to destroy Alexander, obliterating the entire city in the process.

Not the best start to ruling a city...
