4. Noob Saibot
For the longes time, Noob Saibot was a literal shadow in the MK franchise. Inserted into Mortal Kombat II at the last minute as an Easter egg, there was seemingly nothing to the nebulous spectre.
However, gamers were blown away in Mortal Kombat: Deception when it was unveiled that Noob Saibot is actually Bi-Han; the original Sub-Zero. After Scorpion was tricked by Quan Chi to murder him, Bi-Han was resurrected as a malevolent spirit called Noob.
Bi-Han's disappearance led to his brother, Kuai Liang, to take on his brother's title, Sub-Zero, and enter the Mortal Kombat tournament. Even though Kuai Liang vowed to exterminate Scorpion, the two became blood brothers when they realised they had been manipulated.
Although Scorpion was redeemed for his actions, Noob has been unable to free himself from Quan Chi's dark magic. In a way, he's one of the most tragic characters in the series. Even though he did nothing wrong, Noob has become a pawn for evil and a sworn enemy to EarthRealm's champions, including his own sibling.
It's interesting that Noob was created as a throwaway character and yet, has one of the most intriguing backstories in all of Mortal Kombat
